What is ADHD?

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, focus, and behaviour regulation. Symptoms can present differently depending on age and individual circumstances. An ADHD assessment can help provide clarity and guide strategies to support development, mental health, and overall wellbeing.

Common symptoms and presentations include:
  • Difficulty maintaining attention or focus
  • Disorganisation and difficulty juggling tasks
  • Hyperactivity or restlessness
  • Challenges with planning and time management
  • Impulsivity and emotional dysregulation

If you or a loved one are experiencing symptoms of ADHD and would like support or clarification, please reach out to our friendly team with an enquiry.

What's involved in an ADHD Assessment

Our ADHD assessments are conducted by experienced psychologists and follow gold-standard guidelines. The process typically includes:

1. Initial Consultation

We begin with a 50-minute consultation (in-person or via telehealth) to gather background information, discuss your concerns, and determine whether an ADHD assessment is the most appropriate next step. This also helps us tailor the assessment to your specific needs and make sure your comfortable before we proceed.

2. Clinical Interview

If we proceed, the next step involves a more in-depth 90 minute interview to collect detailed developmental, social, behavioural, and any other symptomatic history. We also send questionnaires to relevant third parties, such as, caregivers, teachers, partners, or parents, to gain a well-rounded understanding of your presentation.

3. Additional Screening (if required)

We may also assess for related conditions, such as autism, anxiety, or learning difficulties, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the individual’s needs.

4. Comprehensive Report and Feedback Session

Once all the gathered information has been reviewed, we provide a detailed written report outlining our findings and recommendations. A feedback session is then scheduled to explain the results, provide guidance, and answer any questions you may have.

The total cost of a standard ADHD assessment is $1700 (before any rebates. If funded by the NDIS there is usually no out of pocket cost).
